A Good Problem

in career •  8 years ago

As I mentioned last time, I work in protective services. Currently I'm in the private sector, and I'm in the testing phases for sworn law enforcement work. That's a long process but I'm pretty sure I'll make it. I had held off for a long time because I thought the profession was way too hard on families.
Any way, I won't have news from departments for at least a month more, likely two. So I can spend time increasing my fitness and enjoying a cake schedule and easy job.
My good problem, referenced in the title, is that I'll have two opportunities available at once. A manager from another division in my current employer approached me yesterday and asked about my interest in an opening he expected to need to fill soon. His division is one that would bring a pay raise, and provide more challenge. I probably won't have answers from police departments by the time he would want to interview me, but it felt great to be noticed outside my direct circle of co-workers.
So, there's no profound point to this post, but I would encourage you if you feel like you're just grinding away, that you never know who's noticed your hard work, and due recognition might be just around the corner.
