a little hiccup

My goal of blogging once a day has come to it’s first hiccup. I have been offline for some time now, as I have been caught up in care giving and assisting my mother take care of my grandmother. Last week, my uncles, aunt and cousin came by to visit for my grandmother’s 90th birthday. For some reason, my cousin traveled while being pretty sick with influenza and my grandmother and the entire household, save myself, caught her symptoms... Achy body, cough and just plain discomfort… I have been on the fence about sharing all of this, as it is allowing me some time to sit and integrate what has just happened, which I find really difficult. I found myself dedicating an entire day to doing what my mom does, which includes feeding, cleaning up after everyone, and of course more importantly, lovingly making sure that all of my grandmothers needs were met. Oh my, was that a challenge! I made a promise this time last year that I would make sure to do everything I could for my grandma if she needed me, and I am happy to report that, I may not have blogged for a few days, but I my grandmother is well loved and looked after, so, above all, I'm relieved that although I may not accomplish some goals perfectly, I am able to prioritize them and achieve the more important ones.
