For the Petrolheads, " May You Never Grow Up!"

In the Late 1950's a real Giant Killer of a Car came out, the Lotus 7 , Colin Chapman's minimalist Body and Weight ,Design Simple Construction and relatively easy to get parts!

The first Guy racing out here in SA to the best of my knowledge was Neville Austin a friend of my Uncle George.

Early Days of Kyalami , the Maserati 250 S , Aston Martin's, D Type Jaguars ,etc would beat him down the straight , and then through the Bends would catch them all up again, and often win!

Eventually Caterham took over the original design , but there were a lot of Clone's , I owned a South African Built Marauder with a Hot 1600 Ford engine in it , very quick.( another tale on this)

I ordered a set of Plans for a Formula 27 to build one with a twin turbo Rover( aluminium Block) V8 with 5 speed Box.Still have the Mudguards , Nose-cone and the regret of not having a car which would have left most of the Motorcycles of the Period eating dust!

Come the 21st Century and along comes the Atom , based on similar design principles ( Low Weight , plus big Power)

Looks like a cross between a Naked Motorcycle and a Car, Brilliant!
