Range Rover Model Years (L322)

in cars •  6 years ago  (edited)

From my point of view, L322 series is one of maybe three SUV vehicles worth looking at as I really don't like SUVs.

There is basically only 1.5 motorisations worth considering: TDV6 with 177 hp and sluggish 13.6 s 0-100 kph and actually good TDV8 with 272 hp and 3.628 ccm. In most countries given parameters are simply putting them out of chart.

2002 - 2005, only TDV6 :(

Front bumper is "flat"

Orange turn signal

Some of the oldest models have 90's infotainment

But normally, there is a decent screen:

2005

New infotainment, different front turn signal, different front bumper

White back turn signals

2006, TDV8, finally

New dash vents, much nicer

Redesigned clock, and there is also terrain response wheel:

Change for 2006, more buttons next to the clock:

The cheapest one at this moment (April 2019) costs 6.500 EUR

2007:

2010, The Perfect One

New headlights:

New backlights:

New steering wheel, new infotainment, new gauge cluster

The cheapest one at this moment (April 2019) costs 14.000 EUR, the Model Year 2011
Year 2012, costs at least 18.000
Year 2013, costs at least 28.000

Best Buy?

  • The cheapest 2006-2010 model with the "narrow vents" for 6-7.000. Older version costs basically the same, thus there is no reason why not getting the newer one
  • 2010 model (digital dashboard) for 12-14.000 because it's not even comparable with the new one including all the features

Great looking car but is so damn expensive to maintain and keep it on a proper shape! Here in Germany very hard to get through the technical revision with leave in the shop several thousands euros. Very expensive spares and sometimes needs qualified personal.

Fortunately, I'm in Slavistan :D

Here, parts are dirty cheap, there are countless junk-yards and labour is even less expensive.

For example, the whole anti-rost + paint job of the underside of a car is about 150 EUR (all inclusive).

Complete regular maintenance of an engine, bells, rollers... is about 200-250 (with parts included ?!)

Regular work is somewhere between 30-50 EUR

In this day and age when everyone should try to do his bits to save the planet, this type of vehicles should be banned or taxed beyond belief.
Anyway range rover's unreliability is renown and expensive to fix.
It's a wonder why so many people drive those around the city over here in Ireland.
It's something of a mark of social status.
People are sad...
