While I was a student, some 10-15 years ago, I was wondering about - Ferrari. Any Ferrari to be honest, and the cheapest solution was Mondial. A bit underpowered and a bit ugly for a Ferrari, but it was still desirable and as cheap as relatively new VW Golf. Back then, the price was between 15 and 20.000 EUR.
Four generations: 8, QV, 3.2 and T
Models 8 and QV are lagging behind the later iterations that got glass fibre materials, electronically controlled ignition and later suspension. Don't be tricked by the designation T, it's not for turbo but for the transversal layout of the engine
For me, the sound matters as much as the true speed, and I prefer Quattrovalvole.
Let's check the prices, March 2019, EU market
Mondial 8
Price: low 30.000, median 35.000, top 50.000 EUR
Visible bolts, the original wheels...
Central console is not "connected" with the tunnel.
Back linghts are "popping out a bit"
And the bumpers are black
Cars on sale today: grey, red 1, red 2
QV
Price: low 28.500, median 40.000, top 60.000 EUR
More buttons on the tunnel:
The rest is very much the same.
Tesra Rosa, technically... :D
3.2
Price: low 32.000, median 42.000, top 70.000 EUR
Now we can see several substantial changes:
The front grill is changed, turn lights and bumpers
Diffusor-like thing on the rear
3200 - for 3200 EUR. Still cheaper than "Leica"...
New wheels:
The interior is the same:
Ashtray, the essential feature...
Red-white, Red-black, Black-white
T
Price: low 38.000, median 60.000, top 75.000 EUR
The interior is changed:
Peeeerfect
Pop-up headlights are "boxy"
Engine rotated, 90 degrees:
Blue-blue, Red-beige, Red-black
In conclusion:
If you have some 30.000 EUR laying around, collecting dust - go outside and buy one, today.
Avoid Mondial 8, it will be always recognized as the weakest, and simply HODL or even better, have some fun.
The price went up for 100% during the past 10 years - it's a fantastic investment.
I prefer the model 3.2 and T without the black bumpers. The interior of the T with this light blue leather is gorgeous...

Until I've seen them "live", I was considered them as ugly. Big mistake

I was worse ... I made fun of a ex-coworker who bought one ten years ago, always during the coffee break, I asked about his Ferrari of the poor. Now he must be laughing...
