The oldest Ferrari ever made - that has the name Ferrari

in cars •  7 years ago  (edited)

After WWII, Enzo has constructed the first car that took his name.

It was the model 125 S, produced in only 2 examples in 1947.

Older Ferrari's model was AAC 815, but the name of the company was actually Auto Avio Construzioni. You can read about this in my older post:

Unlike AAC, Ferrari 125 S was powered by V-12 engine with only 1.500 ccm, constructed by Gioacchino Colombo. Number 125 stands for the volume of each cylinder.
Colombo also gave the hearth to models 166, 159 and the 250 series.

The power was 118 CV, achieved at 6.600 rpm, coupled with the 5-speed gearbox. It sounds like this:

Model 125 S took the color "rosso corsa Alfa Romeo", not the true Ferrari red as we know today.
But, it won the first victory, at the Grand Prix of Rome, driven by Franco Cortese.
The same driver, with the same car, will have 2 more wins and one 2nd place.

If you want to see this beauty, you can visit it in Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari in Modena (not Maranello, although they usually sell the tickets for both and have the shuttle bus):
