When Wayne was about a year Old Chris and I went to The Coast , Durban - Margate Area in the Coombs MK2.
Our first trip away with a Baby so we probably took too many items with?, I kept the Jag just under 3500 rpm in Overdrive top which corresponded to 85MPH and about 28 MPG, anything over 3500rpm it would hit the Racing Camshafts Hard , run like the Devil , but drop to 8mpg in return?
My Mom's Sister Pat and her Husband Ron stayed on The Bluff in Durban and were very Happy to see our Beautiful Boy ( no exaggeration)
Ron an Ex Hot Rodder was very excited to be taken around his area at a ridiculous Speed in My Black Jaguar.
We had a Wonderful Holiday , and on the Way Back Chris and Wayne were asleep ( I enjoy driving at night ) and I was flying along at 130MPH , slowing down to 100mph for bends , that car went around bends as though it was on rails!
Pretty Much , the Ultimate MK 2 with a Jaguar Engine!
I had given one of my MK1 Bodies to my Dad , fitted MK2 Suspension all around, wider rear track and Disc Brakes all around
He fitted a Chrysler V8 engine in it with an Auto Box, pulled really well! Made the mistake of letting My Mother Drive it to the Shops! ( will save that for another Story)
Here is a V8 engined Mk2 !
While this was taking place I was busy with another project at My Dad's house as well! More on that later.

Excellent article and I'm very glad that you again touched on the theme of the Jaguars and I was impressed by your decision to put the engine V8 on the MK2. I can imagine how the power and speed of the car increased and I immediately have a question for you of a technical nature, as the transmission has behaved with this engine, maybe I will decide on such an experiment in the future. This was done quite a long time ago, it was a Chrysler 318 Cubic Inch Motor with a 2 Speed Push Button Auto Box, Went very well and had no Gearbox Problems. Had an Auto Fluid Cooler in front of the Motors Radiator , with Electric Fan.

I am a real fan of automobiles especially classic ones. And the one which you have is really a classic car. This is why I pursued Mechanical Engineer and completed it. You had an excellent car. I would have never swapped it coz I am a bigger for of four wheels than 2 wheels. The bike is a good one tho. Classic too
