Strangest looking SUVs from Japan

I love cars, and often i read too much about them, today i want to share strangest off-road (SUV) cars from country of Rising Sun.
Technical information is mostly from manufacturers sites or open source.

Isuzu VehiCROSS

It was very aggressive and very modern car both in design and technology.
The vehicle features the Torque on Demand (TOD) 4-wheel-drive system produced by BorgWarner. The VehiCROSS combined a computer-controlled AWD system for on-road driving and a locked-differential low-gear 4WD system for off-road driving. The Japanese version offered a 2WD non TOD or 4WD TOD option. The US-only constant 4WD TOD, with 12 independent sensors for detecting wheel spin and capable of redirecting power to the wheels with the most traction, gives the VehiCROSS a high level of traction on wet and icy roads. It also has a high level of performance for its height. While possessing on-road nimbleness, its body-on-frame truck construction, suspension and 4WD gearing make it very capable off-road.

Subaru Baja

Not very successful car by marketing, based on Outback model, they planned to sell 24 000 cars per year, sold 30 000 over 4 years.

The Baja followed closely Subaru's ST-X (Sport Truck X-perimental) concept vehicle presented at the 2000 Los Angeles International Auto Show and also designed by a special Subaru America design team. The ST-X offered a greater complement of features than the production Baja (power rear window, under floor storage compartment, tailgate cup holders), but nevertheless set the production groundwork for an Outback-based, four-door, car-truck hybrid.

Suzuki X-90

One more car which was manufactured only 2 years, because no one wanted it. you can understand why just by looking on it.

The X-90 used a 1.6 L I4 16-valve engine which produced 95 hp (71 kW) and was available with four wheel drive or rear wheel drive and either a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission. The X-90 featured dual air bags, anti-lock brakes, optional air conditioning and a dealer-installed 6 disc CD changer. The suspension used MacPherson struts and coil springs in front and coil springs with wishbone and trailing links in the rear. A space saver spare wheel is stored in the trunk and space behind the two seats offers further cargo area.

Honda Element

This brick looking thing is based on Honda CR-V. It's not best looking car as you can see, though it was way more successful then other cars in this list, it was produced from 2003 to 2011.

The SUV features a 2.4 Litre K Engine, an i-VTEC four-cylinder engine producing 166 hp (124 kW) at 5500 rpm and 160 lb⋅ft (217 N⋅m) of torque at 4500 rpm and front-wheel drive or an optional all-wheel drive system — a hydraulically actuated system that operates only when front wheel slippage occurs, marketed as "Real Time" all wheel drive. The Element has a towing capacity of 680 kg, or 1500 lbs.

Honda Crossroad

If first version of Crossraod was just rebadged land Rover Discovery model I, this was totally different.
It looks strange and was sold only in Japan.

Under the hood, the Crossroad sports one of two straight-4 engines of 1.8 L and 2.0 L in displacement. Both will be mated to the only available transmission: a 5-speed automatic. Honda's Real-Time AWD system has been thoroughly revised for the Crossroad. It now works in conjunction with stability and traction control as well as ABS brakes. For the first time in a Honda, the Crossroad will be equipped with Hill-Start Assist which temporarily maintains brake pressure after the brake pedal is released when starting on a hill. Under normal driving conditions, the Crossroad behaves as a FWD vehicle

Acura ZDX

Don't know if it could be called off-roader. But it's ja[an's answer to BMW X6.

The ZDX debuted at the 2009 New York International Auto Show on April 8, 2009.
The announced version includes the 3,664 cc (3.664 L; 223.6 cu in) SOHC VTEC V6 all-aluminum engine rated 300 bhp (220 kW) at 6300 rpm and 270 lb·ft (366 N·m) at 4500 rpm, 6-speed automatic transmission, Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), 19-inch, 7-spoke alloy wheels, panoramic glass roof with movable sunshades, hand-stitched leather interior, HandsFreeLink Bluetooth connectivity, power tailgate, and a high-powered audio system with CD player, AM/FM/XM Satellite Radio and USB audio interface with iPod integration. Sales began in winter 2009.

Toyota Mega Cruiser

Japans answer to our beloved H1. As with HUMVEE it was made for Army, but like Hummer H1, 140 of them went to civilian market. It was sold only in Japan.

The Mega Cruiser featured a 4.1 L turbodiesel I4 engine. The engine focused on producing high amounts of torque at low revs. The SUV featured front, center, and rear differential locks, as well as four wheel steering.
