The BMW Group announces that it has just signed a letter of intent to begin manufacturing battery-powered and electric-powered MINI models in China. In addition to the production of the first MINI electric battery in Oxford, England, starting in 2019, the initiative signals a clear commitment to the electrified future of the MINI brand. BMW Group announces MINI electric models The next steps of the project will be to align the details to a possible partnership and cooperation agreement, and to define aspects such as the location of production and concrete investments.BMW believes that branded electric vehicles can accelerate the development of the MINI brand significantly without questioning the company's commitment to the UK, considering the significant investments made over the years to intensify its involvement in that country. Regardless of the strategic initiatives for the MINI brand in China, the BMW Group will further expand its highly successful joint venture with local partner Brilliance, BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA).

          Thanks for the upvote celioeguga, right back at cha! Loved my mini when I had it and an electric one would have been a real treat, especially to cut down on that premium gas.
