Ferrari already rehearses electric silence in Fiorano

in cars •  7 years ago

Many of Ferrari enthusiasts occasionally drive to the private circuit of Fiorano to watch the news of the Italian brand, usually 'guided' by the sonority of any V8 or V12. However, Ferrari is also working on hybrid systems and a recently released video tells of the silence of a prototype to be started in electric mode.
The prototype with the 488 GTB body was filmed by an enthusiast to accelerate on the main straight, making it without any noise other than a slight whistle whistle of the fact of being in electric mode. It is known that the company led by Sergio Marchionne is developing new generation hybrid systems for future use in their cars, so the model captured in this video may be the harbinger of their arrival to a production version.

Still, this is not the first 'official' Ferrari to rely on electric mode since the LaFerrari, a hybrid of high performance launched on the path of hyper sports like the F40, F50 and Enzo, also had a secret mode that allowed him to travel light meters in electric mode, not allowing very high speeds.

In addition, in the past, the brand even revealed a model named 599 HY-KERS, which received technology inspired by the KERS system of single-seater Formula 1, but it never came to be applied in a series production model, although the one used in LaFerrari was, to some extent, a derivative of it.

As for this model, not knowing yet any detail, it remains to wait another few months until you get to know the information.
