Skoda Superb Plug-in will be a reality still in 2018

Skoda's first step towards the electrification of its range will be given with a hybrid plug-in version of the Superb, a model that is designed to receive a technology derived from that which can be found in the Volkswagen Passat GTE.The Czech brand intends to focus on the electrification of its range and the Vision X Concept planned for the Geneva Motor Show offers a glimpse of what Skoda has in the 'letters' for the coming years in terms of design and technology, a previously unpublished approach in terms of hybrids by allying the CNG to the electric field. However, if this model is still a conceptual prototype, much more realistic will be the launch of a plug-in Hybrid version of Superb using the same system that can be found in Passat GTE, although slightly improved. It is recalled that the system used in the model of the German brand uses a 1.4 TSI petrol engine of 156 hp allied to a 115 hp electric motor powered by a lithium ion battery of 9.9 kWh that gives it an electric range of 50 kilometers. The launch of the Superb PHEV is due to take place this year, with its arrival in European markets expected to arrive in the last six months.
