Dad was born in Malaysia to Indian parents. My ancestors on my mum's side came here as convicts from England, copper miners and tradesmen in the early 1800's. It might seem odd for me to say so, but us Aussie's wear our convict-heritage like a badge of honour (honor).
@janton, after the single-shooter massacre at Port Arthur in which 34 people died the government regulated semi-automatic rifles a little more strictly - They are still available, but one must have a viable reason. Certain calibre's are regulated like 50cal for instance also.
I have many guns from semi-automatic handguns in 9mm and 3-super as I shoot IPSC which you can google. I also compete at practical long range rifle events around the country. I have various rifles from 6.5mm creedmoor, .243 and .223 calibres and others.
There's around 850,000 firearms licenses registered in Australia, population of around 24,000,000 so not a lot. My blog is full of stuff I'm written about my guns if you scroll far enough. Here's one of the latest with a couple links to others at the end.

A few of my guns...
Unfortunately a lot of what people hear about Australia's gun laws is incorrect - I guess one has to be here to fully understand. Sure, we can't concealed or open-carry however we are not as restricted as many think. People making claims about it from other countries, generally have no clue. The gun legislation here is state-by-state and it's not difficult to look up the legislation and regulations online, but no one does...They just prefer to talk rubbish that someone who knows someone else, who heard it from someone else who read it on facetwit. Lol. That's the way of the world these days. [I don't mean you here, but others.]
Oh wow, this is fantastic! Yes, I'd been led to believe, although I never looked into it, that all guns were banned there! lol. This is great news actually. Do you have anti-gun forces constantly trying to remove guns like they are here? Do you have a Second Amendment type of law? I don't even know if you have a constitution.

Lol, yes we have a constitution here.
There is no 2A in our Constitution though. Yes, there is an anti-gun element however they are not as vocal as that in the States, certainly not that I've heard of anyway. They always pipe up if there's a shooting somewhere. I have suspicions that they sit around hoping there's a gun-massacre so they can roll out their anti-gun sentiment. Disgusting pigs that they are.

Howdy today sir galenkp! They certainly are disgusting with no understanding of true liberty. I hope they don't make any further gains in Australia, I hope the gun owners increase!
