The future is getting a little brighter for Formula E and electric cars in general with the release of the next car for 2018/19 series. The new car will have almost double the energy storage capacity and double the range giving a full race, so the drivers won’t have to jump out half way through at the pitstops.
“This car represents the future of racing," said Formula E Founder and CEO Alejandro Agag. "When we started Formula E, our goal was to break the mould and challenge the status quo - bringing a revolution to motorsport. This next generation car represents that revolution."
These are computer generated renderings and we are still waiting on the physical car that will be released on March 6 2018 at the Geneva motor show.
This is excellent news for the world as electric cars advance further, motorsport is leading the development and should push battery performance to even better levels. Look out F1, burning fossil fuel may become obsolete sooner than you think.
The car itself is nice to look at, but I am a little disappointed they are moving away from traditional open wheel formula’s, with the enclosed wheels I kind of don’t like but thats just because I love open wheel race cars.
There were renderings on the web around a year ago that showed a sexier car than the one that has appeared, but at least it is a breath of fresh air and they are moving forward with an interesting design.

Great looking car be very interesting to watch them racing. I built my own electric bicycle from parts to convert the bike i all ready had. This i did about 11 years ago now. I wanted to learn about electric transport. With the posability to apply what i learned building the bike to building an electric car conversion. Not enough money has ment the car has not happened yet. Now the car manufactures are building great electric cars. Wow how things have changed. Thanks for the info.

That's great you built a bike, I would love to be able to do that type of thing but have no space at the moment. I also want to build an electric car but have been thwarted at every stage. I had an MX5 that I would have loved to have converted. Thanks for your comment man, it means a lot to me that you read the article and wrote this how cool is it to be able to share an interest in electric cars over steemit.

Yes i am realy enjoying steemit more and more. And meeting people like you has been great. Being able to share our car interests while also helping to build each other up on steemit how cool is that. An MX5 would have been a fantastic car to convert.

I hope the real car looks as good as this one! It'll give the sport a massive boost. It's still in its infant years, but thanks to the engineers, the rest of society can benefit off their designs and improvements. @motorsport
