There were a few Rat Rods, lots of Hot Rods, guys with beards and a some girls dressed up like they were from the 1950’s, basically everyone trying to look as cool as they could!
I drove into town and got caught up in the convey of cars going to the main street for display by accident, or not really by accident there’s only one road into town.
The locals were all out on the side of the road videoing the cars going past with their iPads and smartphones, although no one was filming me, there was a blue 34 Ford convertible in front of me that was very popular, this must be what it is like to be famous, people pointing cameras at you all the time.
I found a place to park and went for a wonder around, here’s some of what I saw…..You can right click and view images for a bigger image if you like
The Alfa Romeo, this guy was really cool he took the time to talk to me about his car, it was a replica, he told me he had talked about building a car all his life, his wife said he was getting to old to build something so she bought him this, I thought that was a nice story. He was a great guy and he told me that the badge was the only original part on the car, he was very proud of it and it was great to see.
He had to park it up the back end because it wasn’t a real hotrod, but I liked it a lot.
This thing was well done, and presented very well, the guy responsible for this has a great imagination, it was a very photogenic car.
A nice change from all the Fords.
A pretty cool Rat Rod truck.
Had to include it just for the colour, what a paint job this was done really well.
Nice blue paint on this one.
Not really a fan of the flames, but I admire the creativity.
This was my one of my favourites just a great little car, I would love to own something like this.
Reminded me of something from the Waltons, probably not the vibe he was going for!
Just looks fast sitting there, I like these sort of things.
Good to see the effort this girl went to, getthing dressed for the occasion.
One of the more photogenic cars this one was really well done.
This Ratrod was pretty cool, I had to laugh as I was taking the photo, someone was telling his kid the car wasn't finished yet!
More flames, I really like the work that went into this another well presented car.
I had it on zoom from way across the street, when I was going through the images I really liked this photo because I feel like I captured a little moment in time, with that little car I liked so much.
This thing was nuts, it probably didnt come out in the photo but it looked like a million dollars, a really top notch build.
This truck was cool, I love the imagination that went into creating it.
I hadn't seen one of these before, the majority of hotrods were based on Fords, so this was a pretty cool little ratrod.
Wow this was just plain nice I stood looking at it for about 10 minutes, the paint job was imaculate, probably not my favourite colour but so well done it didn't matter.
The weather could have been better and there was a spot of rain, I was worried for all the open top cars. Luckily it only lasted a few minutes.
It was a great day, seeing all the creativity and imagination that went into these cars has inspired me so much, and I am wanting to build my own car more than anything.
Thanks for looking, I have a video I was planning to add but it took a while just to get through all the pictures, I'll upload the video if anyone is interested.

Hey @gyro thanks for the trip to the car show. What car do you want to build? Also I was thinking about your RX7 model and how cool it would look in VR. And this led me to an idea we can do to make a project together. I have a program called tiltbrush by google that lets me bring in 3d models and images and draw in 3d space around them with the hand controllers. My idea is I can do a video for you with your model as I walk around it with the images of it in the background. I will go find a video I made to show you an idea of what I am talking about.

I'd like to build my own design, the supercar I posted earlier is at the top of the list, but I have many designs that would be suitable.
The RX7 isnt 100%, it still needs a bit of work, I tend to work on each model a little at a time otherwise I get bored very quickly.
I would be open to working on a project with you what sort of 3D format does that program require?

Tilt brush can import .obj files I am not really familiar with this format but it seems pretty standard. What program do you use for your modeling?

Here is a little video playing with the VR camera walking around my doodle with a few models in it this was just a test no sound. I think this will give you the idea.
