This stunning 1968 Shelby GT500 KR will head to auction through RM Sotheby's during Essen Sale in Germany in two weeks for about € 150,000.

History of the Shelby GT 500
After the GT 350, the Shelby GT 500 was an idea of Carroll Shelby, great American automotive designer (as you can see with the Cobra 289) who wanted to combine the Shelby's design to the new Ford Mustang.

In 1968, Ford launched its new 428 engine known as the Cobra Jet. Carroll Shelby installed this motor on the GT 500.

Specification
With the new Cobra-Jet 428 engine, the GT 500 KR produced about 400 hp, much more than the 335 hp announced (in order to fool competitors and insurance companies :-) ).
Many upgrades were done on this improved GT 500 :
- low-riser heads from the 427 engine,
- better crank, rods and pistons,
- larger brakes...
This model was fully restored in 2010 and finished in its original paint Lime Gold. Beautiful beast...
