Morris J type. Today's featured vehicle.

Today I have for you this Morris J type commercial vehicle.

This photo I took back in 1992 of a 1954 Morris J type van used as advertising for a photographic shop in the northern suburbs of Hobart Tasmania. This is very likely the same van that was featured in the Cadbury Chocolate adds back in 2013 as the joymobile.

These J types were built between 1949-1961. Most as van and some supplied as chassis for body builders to make there own body's some as Ute's, ice cream trucks and milk floats.

Originally fitted with a 1.5l side valve petrol engine and later with a more powerful 1.5l overhead valve petrol engine. later in 1957 a badge engineered Austin version was released called the 101.

These vans are very rare now and very sort after and getting expensive.

Thanks for following along with the featured vehicle series.
