Here is a shot of another meet up we had at a friends workshop for a bbq and then a cruise about for some fun. from left to right my AE86 4AGTE, 180sx (blacktop SR20DET from memory) with S15 silvia nose conversion (candy paint and signal style decals), 180sx CA18DET. We can see by the front bar that the 180sx at the end is the CA18DET version. this was in an industrial complex on a Sunday afternoon.

Yeah we always have fun when we are all together, lol.... And there is always some kid riding his pushbike saying "DO A SKID!!!!!"
The differences in the labels of the cars is base on the engine capacity of the vehicles, nissan has always tended to use the capacity of the motor to signify more than its own value. in this instance the CA18DET is a 1.8ltr, SR20DET is the 2ltr so the CA doned the 180sx while the SR got the 200sx this also runs over to the 240sx as it runs an N/A 2.4 ltr. This can also bee seen in the Fairlady Z Nissan range as well with the 240, 260, 280 and 300 and even the 350 z all running engine capacities to their titles also in their main range of models.
These names and variants can make it confusing when interacting with car enthusiasts world wide and many a fight has broken out in the past with people flaming each other trying to say "their" variant is right, ah you gotta love the human condition, lol.
