This is a shot from outside the workshop i used to run with a couple fo mates that were into the performance car scene. The cars from right to left are Nissan Silvia RPS15, Nissan Silvia RPS14a, Nissan Skyline R34, Toyota Sprinter AE86 (my one as a drift hack), Nissan 180SX RPS13, Nissan Silvia RPS13 (Mid RPS15 nose conversion). Each of these cars had varying degrees of work carried out by our shop. the AE86 had a 4AGZE conversion with a t28 turbo while the 180SX had an RB25DET conversion. the rest of the cars had basic mods covered such as exhaust, front mount, air filter, boost, etc.
Any given day of the week the car park of the workshop had a variety of performance and show cars in wait of work to be done. on this day the line up was pretty sweet and well organized.
That’s a proper line up mate! How is the S15 to drive? Is it easy to extract more power from or does it require some serious mods, like a new ECU, and complete fuel system upgrade.

Hey @jasonwhite, It really depends on what you want from the car and what you think is good power. the SR20 block is solid and has been used in countless vehicles in the Nissan range from the S chassis vehicles, through to the GTiR Pulsar Atessa bluebird in turbo variants while the N/A can be found in many other shapes such as the Serena, which are all prime for a DET conversion.
like many other turbo vehicles the basic mods such as exhaust, front mount intercooler, filter with cold air intake, and boost up will snag some decent gains and keep many happy. If you want to see some solid gains you will need to do fuel upgrades such as pump, injectors and FPR. However then the biggest decision you will make directly effecting output will be turbo and ECU.
The S chassis has always been a winner when it comes to the drift scene with plenty of aftermarket parts to be had for a cheap price, particularly in the second hand market. the cars handle well but benefit from upgrades like coilovers and strut and sway etc. would definitely recommend if you are looking at buying one.

Thanks man, I had an S13 about 15 years ago, just changing the intake and exhaust on that was a major improvement. Our oldest son is wanting an S15 badly, they look so good!

lol, yeah the good thing about turbo cars is that the gains are big when doing the basic mods compared to N/A vehicles. The S chassis is a good one, hence why they stuck with it for so long.
As far as the any drivers getting them (young or old) , it s a good think to keep in mind that they are a RWD performance vehicle, so those with a heavy foot or short temper should probably start in a 4WD performance vehicle to begin with for safety, lol. but if they have their head screwed on then it should be fine.... its all fun and games till its wrapped around a pole.

Yeah with you on that, he has an RX8 right now, I’d rather he stuck with that, it’s not so lethal, it has a great active stability control system. I have to turn it off to make the damn thing drift!

yeah thats why i not a fan of having too much controlled by a computer, it takes away from the driving experience and makes you soft as a driver, lol.
the reason why i love my 86 o much is beacuse it has nothing.... no power steer or windows, no abs or tcs, it just a go kart with a huge turbo hanging off it. only the engine is governed by an ecu and thats it.... most fun car i have ever driven street or track,
