---- Toyota Levin/Sprinter AE86 Write Off ----

in cars •  7 years ago

This shot is from one of the track days we used to run with a bunch of mates in the drift scene. these track days were held at Oran Park Racewaybefore it was shut down in January 2010. they had a skidpan behind the main straight that was good for the kinds of meets we had at the time. the disadvantage was that running off would mean finding some rough terrain and some trees.

This AE86 was doing a mungie (drifting back and forth particularly on a straight) when he lost it and ended up deep in the scrub. The driver was ok, but after we managed to pull the car out this is what she looked like. its much worse than it looks, the tower was pushed back so the better part of the front end would need to be straightened out if it was to be driven again. it was a beautiful AE86, shame it happened this way. Im not sure if it was repaired or parted after this. This is a reminder that even on the track in a controlled environment that these kinds of accidents can happen... keep it safe.

Ouch that was proper bent, I would of been totally gutted! ☹️😭

Yeah it was a pretty neat 86 too, was hard to look at being an 86 owner :( but these are the risks we take getting out on the track or even just pushing it in general... keep safe yo ;)
