It takes roughly 6 to 9 months to register an imported collector's vehicle into South Africa if you are doing it privately.

I'm unfortunately going onto month 11 with mine as there was an issue on the system and they had to apply a new South African friendly VIN number to my car. It's a major headache doing this yourself, multiple trips to the police pound, weighbridge center, roadworthy testing and many many more trips to the licensing department.

In saying all of this, once you are finished and have your paperwork you have a sense of gratification and seem to appreciate the car a little more knowing that not everyone on the streets can easily access one of these beautiful pieces of history.

Last week I collected my second to last piece of paper - The car has now been loaded onto the system and recognized by our licensing department (DMV) I've now sent in the forms for an interpol clearance to make sure the vehicle has not been stolen or used for criminal activities overseas.

Once it clears interpol then I can finally register and drive my RX7! I've owned the car for 11 months now and have only driven it 4 times with a total of 140km. Imagine seeing one of your favourite cars in the garage but unable to drive it, heart wrenching right?

Oh and before I forget, once the car is registered (Hopefully end of next week) I'll be installing HKS downpipe, full 76mm custom exhaust, HKS muffler, apexi super intakes, gauges and a few other small modifications I have lying around. I'll also be tuning the Apexi Power FC
