I think I would like a Flying Car

As many people will remember, there was an awesome flying car in one of the iconic Bond films – and it was unforgettable. Well, forty and some years later, this hybrid is now a reality, and no I don’t just mean Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (even though it is a real car, or seven – thank you, Furry Editor)

In the grand scheme of things, it may seem impractical, maybe even a little illogical, to own and operate a flying car, as it’s not cheap gaining your pilots licence. However, the model they have already been working on by Aeromobil in Slovakia, aim to have a working model certified in time for the latest Bond film – very cool…

Now in its fourth incarnation, the Aeromobil has a combination of utility: wings and a glass cockpit – and functionality: a small luggage compartment that holds up to 20kg, a decent carry on weight. It also has built in parachutes to aid in recovery, if such is needed, and load limiting seatbelts. The part that seems the most science fiction-y is the fact that the car transforms into a plane in about three minutes.

The Aeromobil is on show at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week, so if you are there, I would recommend you pop in to have a look.

I did get to see the original when I was very young.
