Street racing is illegal. But street racing with a child in the vehicle? Well, that’s just illegal and dumb— but that’s exactly what one woman did over the weekend. Yes, seriously.

According to the Daily Mail, a woman has been charged for allegedly street racing with a 13-month-old child in the car. Worst of all? The child was unrestrained in the vehicle.

Keirra Beatty, 20, was driving the vehicle on Sunday morning in Linfield, Dallas. At some point while behind the wheel, Beatty lost control of the automobile, the Daily Mail reports.

According to court documents, Beatty was traveling at more than 120mph, The Drive reports. The 13-month-old child, who has being held by a passenger in the back seat of the vehicle, did not have a seat belt on at the time Beatty lost control.

When Beatty lost control of the vehicle, it rotated and smashed into a wooden telephone pole, according to WCNC. When the collision took place, the 20-year-old was racing against another vehicle, the Daily Mail reports.

Against all odds, the baby did not suffer any grave injuries, the Daily Mail reports. Still, Beatty was charged with racing on a highway, causing bodily injury, and endangering a child/criminal negligence.

The Dallas Police Department released a statement which said Beatty "knowingly engaged in a street race with another unknown vehicle and failed to properly secure the infant child in a child safety seat,” BET.com reports.

And what of Beatty? According to Bet.com, she is said to have minor injuries after the accident. She’s currently behind bars in Dallas County Jail, though there’s no word on whether or not she has made bail.

Of course, this isn’t the first time street racing has made headlines. Last month, a suspected street race caused a six-car crash along Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills, California, ABC 7 reports.

According to ABC 7, the crash was reported around 4 p.m. on Ventura Boulevard and Premiere Hills Drive. A witness told police they saw two cars involved in the alleged race.

The witness went on to say that the two cars allegedly involved sped by the road right before crashing into multiple other vehicles, ABC 7 reports. Meanwhile, Eyewitness News reporter Chelsea Edwards — and her photographer — heard the crash in the distance as they were a mere block away from the incident.

Another witness told ABC 7 that he was making a left turn on the road and was barely missed by one of the vehicles driving past him. Though the witness said he believed the drivers were going about 100mph, the police have yet to determine the exact speed.

ABC 7 reports that Lynette Williams, who was in one of the cars involved in the crash, said it felt like a "big impact.” Williams was behind the wheel of a white car that was hit by a vehicle that was spinning out from initial hit.

Fortunately, no one was killed in the crash or severely hurt. However, some people did suffer minor injuries. Still, no one was transported to a hospital, ABC 7 reports.
