A kind of mistake from Subaru

in cars •  7 years ago

Hello, everyone. This is my first steem. All you're going to read is my point of view. So let's get started.

We all have to know the two sports vehicles (on a budget), born from a alliance or partnership between Subaru and Toyota. Yes. The Subaru BRZ and the Toyota GT86. These both vehicles were made on the same platform, under the same chassis, but they have too few differences, especially in the exterior design. They are 90% or 95% different to each other, basically.

If we research the ratings and sales of both, we can see the BRZ is the most chosen by the people. This can generate curiosity, because I can be almost sure, that the base model is the GT86 (rebadged in North America as Scion FR-S, discontinued due to the shutdown of the Toyota's american division, Scion), and we can assume that, because its frontend, can make even more congruence or accuracy with the rest of the body, than the BRZ.

Now, what's the opinion that I have? Well. There is something that kind of bothers me about this.

It doesn't matter if Subaru worked along Toyota, to make both vehicles. I think that they could be more original if they saw the concept models of the partner. They could have based on their own vehicles (especially the WRX, their most popular vehicle). They could have worked on the rest of the body (headlights, hood, wing mirrors, fenders, skirts, rims, tail lights, trunk lid, rear bumper, and more).

Here's a hypotetical situation as example. There are two brothers (or cousins in this case), on the same class in the school, and they're on a exam. One of them copies the other one, but puts his own name and changes some few words on the answers, to make it look individual. And turns out that the cheater kid, gets a better score than the other kid. Do you see this fair? I don't think so. And the Scion FR-S doesn't count, because it seemed like a child that born from a rented belly and sent to their western family.

This example can be applied on this case. If you're the kind of people that care about aesthetics, you may understand my point (and even share it). If I could, I'd try to design (through a draw) a more appropiate body for BRZ, based on their other vehicles, especially the concept models. Just like the 2017 Fiat 124 spider and the 2016 Mazda MX-5 (known in America as Miata, and Roadster in Japan), that share the same chassis and born in the same platform but they look absolutely different.

That's all I have to say about this. Personally, I'd get back in time and try something to change it if I could. If you liked this post, just upvote and resteem it. Thanks for watching and have a good day :)
