Caspian Sea, but no sea. When the Romans first approached it they saw salt water which made it look like the sea. This is a lake. But the size is equal to the sea in shape. The Caspian Sea is the largest lake in the world. Its location is in the middle of Asia and Europe. It covers an area of 371,000 square kilometers (143,244 square miles). Its salinity is 1.2% which is one third of the seas.

The Volga, Mtkvari, Ural, Kura and Terek rivers have merged here. Kazakhstan, Iran, Russia, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan surround the Caspian. The Caspian Sea is best known for its sturgeon fish eggs.
