Visiting the castle ruins of Bad Kreuzen in Upper Austria

Always when the weather forecast is not the best for our region I only visit places that are not so far away from Linz, so I can drive home within half an hour or so. Bad Kreuzen is about half an hour away from my home place and on this day the weather forecast was bad, but it was wrong, and it didn't rain the whole day. The castle in Bad Kreuzen is the second largest Castle "ruin" of Upper Austria and visited by a lot of people every year. Not on this day (because of the bad weather forecast), so at least I was lucky not to have so many people on my pictures. :-)

One thing I didn't expect was that I will find so many butterflies and other Insects there.

The Castle in Bad Kreuzen is already broken down pretty much, but there are some areas of the castle that are still intact like this one in the picture underneath this text. The Tower in the first picture is still in a pretty good condition, while most of the Castle Walls are already broken down. I found the Hummingbird hawk-moth and the Common Yellow Swallowtail Butterfly there and took several pictures of these beautiful creatures. I like taking pictures of butterflies. Spring is approaching and in late spring they should be back again. I am already looking forward to this.
