"Gizmo" is the name of the cat my son owns. I don't really know what breed he is, except that he sometimes go through this period when he scratches and bites everything and everyone. Once, I had to go for the Tetanus jab because Gizmo bit me. The pain of the bite lasted an entire two weeks. And my hand was swollen for five days. My niece's doctor boyfriend told her to tell me that if nothing improves, it may be a sign of something worse. That was one of those moments when I really disliked the cat.
Anyway, time healed the wound and while I still have the black mark of his bite forever marked on my hand, me and Gizmo have become a family. Sure, I still hate him sometimes, as we do with members of our own family, sometimes, but like any family, he is cared for too. I don't think there is anyone in my family who wants anything bad to happen to Gizmo. As a matter of fact, I recently decided that Gizmo should only eat fresh fish, direct from the sea and straight to the kitchen, the wok, and into his plate and mouth.
Since then, Gizmo seem to like me more. I've read that cats are unfaithful creatures and opt for the owner who can provide best, his or her needs. Perhaps this is the case since we went from distrust to friends. Anyway, he still dotes on my son more, and waits for my son to wake up every morning outside the door. So I guess that assumption is not really accurate. Cats, like humans, have their own distinct personality and we, as humans, should never assume that one cat's personality fits all cats.
Ever since I began serving him fresh fish, he has been keeping me company in the kitchen while I cook his and our meal. He would wait for hours until he is served. After his meal, he'd go to his favourite corner, which oversees the garden and sometimes, a female feline or two would pass by. It is so cute.
Anyway, since we're friends, I've taken many of Gizmo's photographs and I share them with the readers.
