Catching a Liar by Interpreting Body Language

"Catching a liar by interpreting body language" is a very clever devious little book by David Norton. In it, Norton challenges the perceptions of thousands of people about lying. I was amazed at how many people across all religions and walks of life claimed that they did not know that a person lying existed! It is so important to understand that all of us are prone to lying or the lack of it.

We all lie in various forms such as in conversations, giving advice, hiding things and much more. The point of this book is to help you discover the truth about your own lying and how to see it for yourself. In the body language interpretation, it helps you analyze your own gestures and decide if it is indeed lying or telling the truth. This way, you will be able to prevent all future lies and deceptive acts.

Let us first look at the importance of body language. Most of the people who find it hard to believe a person is lying is because his/her body language does not show that person lying. As we all know, body language is very revealing and it is always visible whether someone is lying or telling the truth. By reading this book, you can get rid of all the lies you always tell to your friends and family. You will also be able to understand the body language of women better and be able to understand whether they are lying or not.

There are certain parts of the body where certain muscles are more prone to betrayals. For example, your hands may betray your guilt when you are shaking somebody's hand. The lips are more likely to betray a liar. A well-read person can easily sense if another person is lying through his/her body language.

To make use of this technique, simply take a look at the faces of your friends or family members when they are lying and talking with you. Pay special attention to the eyes. What do you see? If you see that some people have eyes that are pursed, you know that these people are probably trying to hide something from you. In fact, these are signs of fear.

Another factor to notice is the body language of the person you are talking to. Does he/she lean forward or lean back while talking to you? Is he/she crossing their arms over their chest? These are signs of relaxation and stress.
