Cats, Photography and... Outtakes!

Greetings Felines and Hoomans of Steemit!

We take lots and lots of photos to make this blog possible... and we get some nice compliments on the shots we share.

Not to shatter the illusion, but you are only seeing the "highlight reel!"

There are actually tens of thousands of photos that look more like this:

Because cats are eternally curious, and reflections caught in the lens are a bit like a laser pointer... Must. Be. Explored...

And it's not just Shadow... our less commonly seen housemate BeBe (who tends to be a little more elusive) also likes to get right up into the camera:

Which usually results in the lens needing a good cleaning, because she's often a bit "snuffly." As you can probably see in the above "miscue."

Meanwhile, this is probably as close to a $hitpost as we'll ever get around here!

Hope you've all had a wonderful day!

I call those "blur kitty" photos.

Sometimes the effects are quite... interesting. And could even be called "art," by some people.

I find it's best to just sit there and let the humans make all the effort moving around, but I'm not against getting in their faces.

The Hoomans are silly! And they make the fundamental mistake of having a dangling lens cap on a string hanging from the camera... but I'm not going to let them know that;s a BAD idea; they'll have to discover that for themselves!

Thaaaaaazzzz Right.... but even the blurrs are good ones.

We tend to get about 3-4 blurry shots for every one good one. You'd think it would get easier to photograph cats over time, but that has NOT proven true!

Seems like the black cats are 2-3 times harder to catch. Lighting and camera confusion. But we end up with some great shots of the furniture with a black smudge on it.....lol

We call this "Seal Toes"..... She is stretched out like a sea lion or seal. Little Jessi the mermaid....;-)

Actually, those are great!

Well, thank you... very kind to say that. We like to think of them as "action shots!"

Yes, I get plenty of pictures that turn out like that with Inca! BeBe is so cute, I love it when she's included in your posts.

Thanks! BeBe IS very cute... but challenging to photograph because she has her various hidey-holes where she likes to go sleep... and sometimes we have NO idea where in the house she is.

Hi @cuddlekitten, nice to see you here!

Haha, that happened with my dogs more often than with the cat. She likes to pose.
But if I have to switch on the flash than she gets confused. 😀

Both the cats around here love to stick their face right into the camera lens! And there's a lens cap dangling from a string, which probably is a BAD idea when you are photographing cats!
