This picture was taken the night before the disaster- poor Frank had a blockage in his urinary tract and we had to take him to the emergency vet. Basically I saw him going from place to place this morning squatting on everything and attempting to pee. In 20-30 mins he squatted at least 10 times and only peed a few drops. It took all day but he's home now and we're keeping an eye on him. The vet recommended he stay a couple days but the estimated cost was $2000 which uh, I don't have. It ended up being around $600 for everything they did today (anesthetics, catheter and flushing, UTI test, pain meds, and more.) Frank is hiding in the closet right now.
He's pretty out of it, I was petting him and he wasn't moving, just staring off in one direction. I moved the clothes a bit so I could sit in the closet with him and pet him for a bit and got him to purr. After about an hour I brought him onto the bed so I could pet him a little more easily.
I was also able to get a better look at the spot where I assume they put his IV. Poor guy looks like he's wear one lil boot now.
He was becoming a bit more alert, and sat with me for a few minutes but he decided he wanted to drink and ended up laying next to the water bowl.
I'm glad to see him drink because he needs to stay hydrated. I'm still keeping an eye on him, because we have to make sure he can continue to pass urine.
I'm greatful I was home when this happened because I work a lot, and urinary blockages can be very serious in cats. My friend's cat, Maxx, died from one that had gotten too bad, so I was extra spooked today because I was there with her when Maxx passed. Maxx was also an amazing kitty!
Thank you for reading! I'll post more updates on Frank, hopefully he'll continue to recover and feel better. Please send positive vibes/prayers/whatever positive faith thing you believe in.
God take good care of Frank and allow him to fully heal, I love cats. Sorry because I only speak Spanish and use a network translator, I hope you understand. You have a lovely kitten
