Rex cats are a unique family of cats and the Selkirk sits among the most well-known variants. Its lineage stems from a curly house cat through natural breeding. The various crosses have seen a wide range of colours and even coat length diversity. This Rex cat is regarded as one of the larger specimens and features a large frame and heavier bones. There are many different cat which differ in body structure and the Rex tends to fall into the bigger category. Potential owners may sometimes want to consider this as dietary requirements and general handling is sometimes dictated by the general size of a cat.

Selkirk Rex’s are often compared to British Shorthairs due to their similar frame and stature. However, the resemblance ends there as the visual appearance of the Selkirk is drastically different with its long and curly coat. The Selkirk Rex is a strong and active cat that features a rounded head. Much of its body is covered in a plush like coating which curl in a random manner.
