Happy Caturday Felines and Humans of Steemit!

Getting started on my Caturday post a bit late this week, but better late than never!

There was a lot of laundry today-- epsecially lots of towels!

I was helping my Human fold laundry earlier today. As those of you who share a household with cats well know, we love fresh laundry! Of course, I am no exception to that, and today we were folding towels, which is pretty much what the photos in this post show as its own sideline story.

End of the 100 Followers Contest!

In other news, my giveaway/contest to celebrate reaching 100 followers came to a close today. 

It's important to make sure towels are folded properly-- no creases underneath!

We had 19 qualified entrants and a total of 58 comments, this was by far the most popular and engaging post I've made since joining Steemit.

We'll be having the drawing and announcing the winner of a @steembasicincome share tomorrow!

Thank you to everyone who participated! This was my first "challenge/contest" on Steemit, but it will definitely not be my last.

Today was Earth Day!

So today was Earth Day, which has been observed since 1970, making it 48 years old-- wow!

Although Earth Day was created here in the USA, it is now observed/celebrated in over 190 countries. It has actually become one of the most widely observed/celebrated calendar items in the world!

What? Have you never seen a cat fold laundry before?

Progress has definitely been made, but there are still huge amounts of garbage being created every year. We need to take better care of our planet; take better care of other living things here.

My Human "mom" has joined TreeSisters, a UK-based global organization whose mission is to plant a billion trees. That's a LOT of trees... but trees matter; they are sort of like the lungs of the planet.

All done! Look at all those towels. That was a LOT of work!

Interesting Cat Trivia: Celebrating Cats

Speaking of Earth Day, cats also have their special days on the calendar.

There is "World Cat Day" which happens on February 17th every year; mostly observed in Europe, for some reason.

There is "International Cat Day" which is celebrated every year on August 8th.

My own personal holiday is Black Cat Appreciation Day on August 17th!

On October 16th, it is National FERAL Cat Day in the USA.

Here in the USA, there is also "NATIONAL Cat Day" on October 29th, every year. 

So, as you can see, cats are quite celebrated! And I'm sure there may be "cat days" specific to regions and individual countries around the world; if you know of any, please do leave a comment below!
