Hello! It's Saturday again. Time for another favorite tag of mine - Caturday! And I've been trying to think of something to post, aside from cat pictures, that could make this more interesting. Now as I went out to go to the neighborhood market yesterday, I saw that our Chinese Bamboo which is planted right outside our front gate needed trimming. See photo below.
That's where I got the idea. Why don't I try to shape this into a cat for my Caturday entry. Now remember, I have no experience whatsoever in shaping bushes or plants. In fact I had to look this up to find out what this activity is called. As usual, Google always has the answer. Topiary!
Topiary is the horticultural practice of training perennial plants by clipping the foliage and twigs of trees, shrubs and subshrubs to develop and maintain clearly defined shapes, whether geometric or fanciful. The term also refers to plants which have been shaped in this way. - Wikipedia
And so, out with the garden scissors and snip snip snip and voila! This is the result of my first topiary attempt at shaping a Cat!
Ha ha ha. Does it even look like a cat? Here's a close-up!
From the side view angle.
My wife and kids had a good laugh at this! They say it looks more like a monkey than anything. But I say it is closer to the Marvel action comic hero "The Black Panther" which is still a cat. What do you think?
Anyway, this is just my first attempt. I'll have to wait for the plant to grow back to do it all over again. Who knows? It may just come out to be like a cat. I'll keep you posted! Here's a picture of Pickles, one of our 12 cats, whom I will model my second topiary attempt at cat shaping at. Wish me luck my friends.
