How to tame a street cat, make it home

in caturday •  6 years ago

Greetings, dear readers!

Probably, there are a lot of people who will be interested in this question: how to tame an adult cat, which they took from the street? How long can it take for his little heart to thaw and he can trust them?

Answering these questions, I would not like to upset you with the fact that, most likely, the cat, if he will fully trust you, it will happen not very soon.

And there are many reasons for this.

First, he appeared in your house, being already an adult cat with an established personality and set of habits may not be the best.

Secondly, since he has lived on the street for a long time, he may have been bullied, so he is distrustful of you.

In this case, you just need to be patient.

I had a case when my mother seized the drug addicts a little kitten, on which they are abused - extinguished burning cigarettes on his fur over his eyes.

The kitten looked to be about two to three months, not more.

We had hoped that he will quickly forget the insult caused to them by the people, but...
More than a year he did not allow to be picked up and caressed. Then allowed to iron it only when he wanted, but again with the condition that the hands will not take.

He began to trust us two years later, when he finally realized that we love him, that no one is going to hurt him, that he is a member of the family, like us.

However, he always decided what, how and when to do it - to cuddle, lie side by side or not to let me work.

And he always felt when I felt bad, came and lay down to me on a sore spot, treat.

Be patient, let him feel your love and affection, confidence that your home is his home too, and everything will be fine.

Thank you for your attention, see you soon!

It definitely cat take a while to gain the trust of a street cat... especially if it has been tormented by insensitive humans. Usually, it is easier with kittens than adult cats... but it can still take some time, as was true with your example.

The key to a happy outcome is, indeed, some patience. And be very gentle with the cat.

Happy Caturday!
