Scoliosis is a curvature of the spine that is observed when looking directly from the front or from behind a person.
It is most commonly is idiopathic (unknown cause) and occurs usually in the early years of life before skeletal maturity. Whilst it can occur in the first years of life, even in development in the womb it most commonly occurs in the teenager, especially girls more than boys.
Scoliosis is a condition that if address and detected earlier before it has time to develop there is potential to change a persons entire future life and limit disability through appropriate care.
Given on average we see 1-2 people a month with scoliosis, many that never knew they even had it, we have made a concerted effort to share this information with you the public.
Just this week we had a male in his 30's that had suffered with increasing pain from the age of 5 years old till his mid twenties before anyone took notice and he had an x-ray confirming the condition. See attached pictures.
