Controversial - When you start thinking you’re royal, you’re not the queen bee

Apologies in advance for this rant link post but to my mind this is a line… When someone’s self-opinion becomes so great it becomes offensive to them when they are not acknowledged. If I ever do this please put me in my place. You have my permission to be like “hey dude, no”.

Sensationalized on the media over the last day was the heading to the gist of “Lorde's Uber Driver Didn't Have The Slightest Idea Who She Was” (Huffington Post) or “Lorde Live Tweets Her Awkward Uber Ride” (Ryan Seacrest). The original post got 44K likes on #twitter!

#Lorde , the singer of Team and Royals, tweeted comments (found below) from what we can assume was the back of the uber driver’s car.

“uber driver currently busting a nut about the fact that there was a 'celebrity passenger' just before me”

“i can tell our ride, by comparison, sparkles significantly less for him”

“i can feel it from the back seat, his dazed glow. he's probably now pretending that i am not here, that they are still together, and alone”

This shows the star’s self-opinion and potential hurt at not being put on the pedestal she has become used to. She appears to shows no humility. She could have said “do you recognize me” or got excited or something then gaily tweeted about how her driver was happy to have driven two celebs in one night. But that is not what she tweeted. The driver was expressing his delight and she did not (publicly) demonstrate the social skills a normal person might use to show appreciation of another human’s enjoyment/happiness. She acted like a teenager even though she is idolized by thousands or millions around the world. Here is the kicker she is. Unfortunately she probably won’t see this as a grounding moment to develop from but instead as the ignorance of some faceless driver.

Sorry Lorde, you’ve been blockchained. I am not singling out Lorde, there are many other stars that act in a similar way. We almost institutionalize them into a place of mental health disorders and modified social skills by letting them act/do/be/get away with certain ways of acting. Just for fun try diagnosing a celebrity, big any celeb (try Justin Bieber) with either sociopathy or narcissistic personality disorder (btw, do not do this with value intended, leave that to the professionals, I’m not one, just drawing parallels). I kind of feel sorry for them. But seriously, is it our fault? Are we breeding them this way by letting them get away with otherwise socially unacceptable behavior?

This is one of the reasons I love YouTubers, they are very humble, appreciative and very human in their approach to many things. The closest thing to #decentralised #celebrities

Comments welcome

Please note this is to be viewed as a commentary on celebrities following the recent public statements by Lorde (Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor) and is not intended as character assassination but to promote discussion on mental health and social skills. No offence was intended and I apologize if it was taken that way.

I wouldn't recognise ninety percent of celebrities if they walked up and slapped me in the face.

One would think a lot of celebrities would like to be treated like a regular person just to be normal once in a while.
