As a community we should bring Russell Brand to Steemit! Let me explain. Steemit is gaining traction and while we are still in beta the platform has grown significantly in the past month. The additions of people like Jeff Berwick (Dollar Vigilante) and Rick Falkvinge (Pirate Party) as well as some YouTuber's are really big for Steemit. However in the big scheme of things they are still small fry (no offense, I'm a fan)! If we want all of our minnows, snapper, grouper, tuna, dolphins and whales to swim out of the tiny ocean pool we are currently wading in. Then we need real life whales to "Free Willy and friends" to reach the ocean that awaits us all (congrats by the way if you are here whether this is a failure or success you have been an important part of history and very early at that)!

We need Russell Brand. He could be the kid that frees Willy (you know the movie) and we could all dance to that Michael Jackson song at the end. He is the perfect celebrity for breaking the ice with Steemit for a large number of people.

He is the perfect candidate for the following reasons:

  1. He already knows about Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies, therefore he could quickly understand Steemit which has a steep learning curve.
  2. He is open minded so he would take the time to contemplate the "idea" of Steemit.
  3. He has over 12 Million followers on Twitter, compare that to the Dollar Vigilante's 13 Thousand and you get the idea!
  4. He is a popular and well known comedian and actor who has many media outlets to share his experience or thoughts about Steemit.
  5. Many of his followers tend to be open minded individuals who are eager to learn just as he is and come from all walks of life around the globe!
  6. What's the worst he says or does, NO? If we flood his Twitter account people are bound to just come across the name Steemit! As they say even bad news is good news if you're marketing because people will make their own decisions on Steemit.

So, what's the plan you may ask? I propose we tweet, message, post what we can on Twitter and Facebook to Russell Brand. Hopefully he will be intrigued by this flashing pile of Steemit from many Steemians, and he will have to investigate what this is all about! If you agree with this idea let's tweet at him from this evening through the weekend.

Common @berniesanders, I think you would like Brand over Berwick any day! Please leave thoughts and comments as to your thoughts on this proposal!

Thank You,

I'm a big fan of russell brand, especially since he began his activism and awareness raising agenda. And yes you're probably right he would do a great deal of good for the community.

I feel that the most effective way that he could promote steemit without seeming as if he is being paid to do so, Is by putting a lot of emphasis into the fact that it's decentralised, also that you get paid, of course.

Agreed!

Good idea, people should contact him and tell him about steemit. He will probably like it very much , given he is anti-corporate, and loves freedom oriented things.

Yes, i don't care about making money on this post I just want us to get Russell Brand!

Lol, the - "Fuck greed, and rich people. Hey honey, let's buy that million dollar house over there. And I want some new jewelery as well.!!!" - guy xD

I'd be delighted to have him here. I guess not everybody agrees with his views but one thing is certain - he can write damn well.

Lol, I tweeted this at him.
