The sun is generally know for day lighting of the earth. But I want to make all steemians know that the sun have other great functions that we might not know.

SUN PROVIDES FOOD FOR ALL LIVING THINGS
Plants can never grow or produce food without the sun.
The sun provides energy through light radiation which
helps plant by providing them with energy that coverts carbon dioxide into sugars which is how plant grow(photosynthesis). Every living thing on earth needs food to survive and this food is gotten from plant. You talk of carnivorous animals that feed on flesh (herbivores) they won't see any flesh to feed on if there is no plant for this herbivores to feed on. The absence of this great sun will lead to the death of all animals and plant and the death of man as well because there will be no food for man to feed on.

THE HEAT FROM THE SUN IS WHAT KEEP THE EARTH FROM TURNING INTO A BALL OF ICE
Our atmosphere traps sunlight to keep the earth warm if there is no sunlight the earth will begin to get cold in matter of days the atmosphere will start to freeze. If with sunlight some parts of the earth experience winter imagine the earth without the sun

THE SUN GENERATES SOLAR ENERGY
The word solar means of related to the sun OR determined by the sun. The light from the sun carries energy which is the visible light ( light we can see with our eyes) and light we cannot see from the sun spectrum.
The solar energy can be use as water heater. It was first introduced in the late 1800s it was a great innovation to ease the stress of burning coals and woods. It was cleaner and cheap to operate. Aside heating of water solar energy can be use to make it suitable for drinking.
Solar energy also help in generation of electricity using solar cells and concentrating solar Power. Most of our street lights, buildings, chargers for phones, power banks today uses this solar energy.

The importance of the sun can never be over emphasize but it will interest you to know why I wrote the Great sunlight not just sun. The sun is 1.3millon times the volume of the earth. The sun has a diameter of 1,392,000km and 865,000miles while the earth is just 12,742km and 7,918miles.
In terms of weight the sun is 333,000 times heavier than the earth and account for 98% of all mass in the solar system.
