First of all, I thank God for another day with the steemit family and thanks to @steemchurch and @sirknight for their #celestialchallenger initiative, today I will talk about bioluminescent algae.
The bioluminescence is created by an algae of the microscopic plankton of the Dinoflagellates group called 'noctiluque'. When it is agitated it becomes luminous and in some cases spectacularly luminous, depending on the concentration of the water in which we find ourselves.
The production of light from certain living organisms is the result of a biochemical reaction in which an enzyme called luciferase is commonly involved. This curious blue tone is usually seen on some beaches as a result of the sudden movement of water.
It's a defense mechanism. When we move the water, the algae think it is a microscopic crustacean about to eat it, so it launches a small flash with the intention of attracting some small fish that can devour their enemy, the crustacean. The spark of light does not last more than a tenth of a second, but since there are thousands of them in every cubic centimeter, it seems that the light is emitted continuously while we move the water.
It is wonderful to see how God has created everything that surrounds us in such a spectacular and beautiful way, every day I am more surprised by so many beautiful things that our planet has.
Let us love our planet and its places just as God loves us with that pure and kind love that He has for us every day.
After creating fish, birds and land animals, God was very pleased: "He came to see that [everything] was good," says the Bible (Genesis 1:21, 25).
I hope you like it
