"Granskning Sverige" (loosely translated as Review Sweden) was (is) a network of immigration-critical activists in Sweden that called up and interviewed mostly politicians and journalists in a typical investigating-journalist-manner. They had a youtube channel where they published the interviews.

Here is an interview by Red Ice TV in English with one of the main figures from Granskning Sverige:

Many journalists and politicians were outraged by the "ambush" journalism consisting of calling them up and interviewing them. They later dishonestly described it as "threats" and "harassment".

The Swedish mainsteam media papers Expressen and Aftonbladet reported what was in their opinion illegal material to Youtube using the lawfirm Danowsky & Partners. Why did they think the youtube videos by Granskning Sverige was illegal? Because it used "copyrighted content" in the form of screenshots from articles from mainsteam media that Granskning Sverige had criticized. Source The 6 march 2018 Granskning Sverige's youtube account was shut down cheered on by an overwhelming majority of swedish politicians, calling for a stop to "hate", "threats" and "harassment" and in practice a new era of censorship in social media.

The lawfirm Danowsky & Partners later complained to Youtube that Youtube openly showed who had flagged Uppdrag gransknings videos, i.e. openly showed the lawfirms name. Source

Morgan Johansson, Swedish justice-minister

The 23 march 2018 the Swedish justice-minister Morgan Johansson (social-democrat) announced that he wanted to have a private meeting with social media companies Google and Facebook in order to compel them to "stop hate and violence that is being spread by them". If they did not comply he would push for legislation forcing them to censor more Source The meeting between Morgan Johansson, Peter Eriksson and Google took place friday the 13 april 2018. Facebook did not attend. Source

The goal of the meeting seems to be to modify the Swedish version of Google and the Swedish version of Youtube and make them more adapted to censoring according to Swedish needs. In practice, of you visit Google or Youtube from a Swedish IP-address many videos and search results will be censored compared to for example IP-addresses from other countries.

In upcoming posts I will examine differences in search results and Youtube content between different countries. After the Morgan Johansson Google meeting I have noticed that many videos on Youtube are "not available on this country domain".
