I totally agree with you on the need for censorship free social media and media in general, and you've really done your research on Facebook which I love. But I'm not at all sure that Steemit will do that. I think that a lot depends on the community. Downvoting doesn't really depend on the founders, but screening posts does. If platforms such as Steemit become as open and as prevalent as phpBB, I think that the most popular platforms will just appear on their own.
