PALNet Still Using Steemit's Censorship Rules

PALNet orders comments the same way Steemit does. If the comment is being paid out more money (PAL), it get's displayed first. Unless of course the person has been flagged down below zero on Steemit. In that case, the post is also censored on PALNet, regardless of PAL payout.

This seems pretty backwards to me, as isn't one of the main sticking points of PALNet to separate itself from the Steemit community and change the way content is displayed to the user?

Obviously we can give them a free pass for now. Developers are super busy and this one probably just fell through the cracks. However, sometimes I wonder if this is a 'feature' rather than a bug. The order of posts is already correctly displayed for PAL payouts. How did Steemit's censorship algorithm slip in there after the fact?

Conclusion

It's not worth fussing over just yet.
Just wanted to point it out.

Ideally, comments on PALNet will be ordered using more heuristics than simply payout amount. I've already made the argument multiple times that bloggers should have full control over the comment section if they want to override the order of anything being displayed on their content.

Yeah, PALnet is a quick rebranding of Condenser, the Steemit front-end. There are a number of mistakes due to that.

good post man and i agree with whatsup sbout letting them know and they at least listen compared to the people on steemit front end
have a great day man and keep them posts coming

The team seems really open to feedback you should just let one of them know.

One of us (not me) spotted this post, mentioned this in our team channel, and I imagine we will be looking into this.

That would require crawling out from under this rock.

I hear rocks are super uncomfortable

I am curious about something, and too pressed for time to do more than ask about it. Do I have to do something besides upvote on Steem to upvote with PAL? I have some PAL but haven't undertaken the learning curve to migrate from Steempeak, which has proved out.

I always appreciate your quick grasp of the sometimes unexpected consequences of vagaries of code, and this post is a great example of the insight you often provide. Thanks for that.

The PAL has to be powered up which your 360 PAL is not.

After that, yes, you just upvote regularly and it will cast a double upvote for both steem and pal inflation. You can also delegate now and separate the vote out to another account.

Posts that don't have the palnet tag don't get rewarded with pal.
Comments get grandfathered in if the OP has the tag.

I'll have to go have a looksee about getting powered up with PAL.

Thanks!

Such drama, you've earned a DRAMA!

To view or trade DRAMA go to steem-engine.com.

Hidden is not censored, but it does impact visibility a lot but as @whatsup said I would let them know, it is very much a work in progress from the looks of it.

"Censorship is the suppression of speech, public communication, or other information, on the basis that such material is considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or "inconvenient"."

Yes it is. Many people mistate censorship as the complete eradication of information. It is impossible to completely eradicate information, and accordingly so defining censorship makes it non-existent.

No credible source of definitions so defines censorship. You are free to disagree, of course, because you are free to be wrong. If you would be right, please take the necessary action, and change your mind. [Note: you may feel that I should back up what I say with what I do, and you are right. Therefore I point out that in conversation with you I have done exactly what I here recommend on more than one occasion. The last time I changed my mind because of facts you made me aware of was less than a week ago.]

@valued-customer You sir are being gifted 500 Hobo tokens for understanding the meaning of censorship!

The HoboDAO values your free speech...

Hmmm, I've noticed that posts can be flagged negative STU and be upvoted and PAL and show, we did that for valued-customer. I'm guessing the 0 rep thing triggers something different in the condenser code. Time to let the majestical code monkey know... @eonwarped.

What? I apologize that I am unaware of this. I apparently too neglect my wallet to be well informed regarding tangentially connected matters I value much more, such as consideration and support of folks I respect and admire. Could you link me a clue?

Thanks!

Oh, the first time you used the palnet tag, your post was flagged invisible from STEEM. It started the discussion about allowing STU to hide a post on palnet. We made PAL> STEEM for that... so basically if your post is grey we can just upvote you and it shows. The problem seems to be when someone has 0 rep... must be something in the condenser code not yet explored.

I had no idea. I'm both touched and surprised such a discussion came about over a post of mine, and that I didn't even know.

"The problem seems to be when someone has 0 rep... must be something in the condenser code not yet explored."

Are you referring to my PAL rep? I think my Steem rep exceeds zero.

Thanks!

No, the post that this comment is under. Edicted was letting us know that there was a bug with 0 or below account rep. We're looking into it.

Wow, I guess I should have mentioned it a week ago...
I just assumed it would get fixed on its own.
