I have been hearing near panic about the transfer of ICANN.
It has been reported that ICANN has only become independent and is a nonprofit corporation.
I have been running into roadblocks finding out the names of the people
that have authority over running it and what standard is used to run it
and to whom they are beholden.
This is disturbing to me as an advocate for near absolute freedom of information.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this :
https://www.corbettreport.com/interview-846-the-censorship-solution-with-michael-dean/
The one issue with this seems to be the need for wide adoption,
but it seems to be to DNS and censorship of sites as steemit is to censorship of information,
minus the curation, flag, dynamic.
ICANN can disappear your DNS address at will.
This Meowbit, namecoin incorporates .bit addresses into it's blockchain,
where they cannot be removed, making ICANN irrelevant.
there is also this:

There is also a great interview with Michael Dean and Derrick Slopey available to members of http://www.gnosticmedia.com
but I could not find a non-member link. The membership is well worth it, though.

Thanks for posting this...
A quick browse seems to show this is somewhat outdated? But we most definitely need a distributed, populist domain mechanism....
Do you know what the latest/greatest option for that may be?
I'm sitting hear, sickened once again, listening to the Corbett Report interview... I'm all too well experienced at the "fax and it's all over" syndrome government gangs use... :(
Onward and upward to a distributed, open society without choke points.... ;)

i put this out there to see what i could stir up, not much. i think their DNS blockchain and mesh net is still doable.
recently i have run across a couple other things, that if integrated with this, i think would make the internet impervious to any attack. one of these is the censor "proof" nature of steemit, another is the very small computers, raspberry pis and smaller, that i see being made. these computers are so cheap, i have seen them for 50 cents. i could buy 800 of them for the cost of my laptop. what if only 1 person per square mile did this?
we really do live in a scifi reality. imagine what wyoming, mannie, and the professor could have done with that.
imagine with me a global, decentralized mesh net. impervious to censorship, impervious to DNS shutdown, because every computer in the network has a copy of all DNS addresses, and run on computers that are small enough that they can be fitted with a five year lithium battery and stuck onto the back of the stop sign, or wherever they are unlikely to be found, at the end of every street. what do you think? i tried to explain this to someone else and they stared at me, blankly and said "what for?" if this was done, i think mycroft might just wake up.

I love discovering that we share such visions... ;) :)
OK, so, extend it just slightly:
What if each of the nodes in the mesh had a transceiver that was based on "scalar" technology - i.e. longitudinal vs transverse waves? Some believe that these propagate at infinite velocity and are not blocked by things such as mere planets...
Then we would have a pretty much invulnerable mesh network...
I think that perhaps @lamare has a slightly different outlook on physics, and may have a handle on some possible superluminal / unstoppable - i.e. "subspace" - communications technologies... :) You might find his posts of some interest. ;)

E.T. Whitaker showed in 1904 that these scalar waves were also coupled with phase conjugate, time reversed waves. so these are not only free to travel through matter, but free to travel, not through time, but in reversed time. every signal has an anti- signal. can you imagine how uncensorable a network would be if it were not limited by the time domain?
this has also been used by Antoine Prioré to reverse aging, by bringing the physical matter of the body back to a previously recorded state. i don''t know if this would rob a person or their memories of the intervening time, but i'd like to find out.

wow, i've been busy looking for work. didn't know this had sunken into obscurity a year and a half ago. seemed like a good idea at the time.
