English Version:
An inaccessible chest
Frederick pretended to be quite dazed, the first thing he expressed was a severe headache. One of the nurses brought him a glass of water with two spoonfuls of sugar and told him he looked quite pale. While he was drinking some water, the doctor continued to monitor his blood pressure, periodically asking him some questions about his symptoms. Frederick couldn't help but feel guilty about the lies he was telling, at that very moment he had three people looking out for his health, and investigating some symptoms he had invented himself, he was wasting their time, and probably someone who really needed the help wasn't counting on his luck.
However, the guilt disappeared with the memory of who injected him. He knew openly that it was worth it, not only to know who secretly injected it, but also what substance entered his bloodstream that night, and what effect it had on his health. Frederick slowly moved around, implying that he wanted to get up and that he was feeling much better already. One of the nurses helped him up from the stretcher, while the doctor assumed he was dizzy. He very kindly thanked them for their attention, and asked them not to worry, as the symptoms were temporary.
Frederick was clever enough to say that he suffered a great emotional shock when he looked for his precious documents and did not find them, his fainting was a product of stress, and not of some much more serious illness. The doctor, rather intrigued, asked him about the contents of the envelope of documents he was looking for. Frederick stammered a little when he answered, but managed to tell him that in it were several identity documents and family photos of great emotional value. Both the doctor and the two nurses promised to carefully check the place and report the envelope as a lost object. In addition, they told him that if his papers were ever found, they would call him immediately to let him know. Frederick knew that that call would never come.
Very grateful to the medical staff who attended him, Frederick left the room in a hurry and under the three floors with the speed of lightning, he could no longer wait for the moment when he would arrive at the North farm to continue searching for the truth. His mother once told him that people do not necessarily need to know everything, there will always be a mystery involved, and the space occupied by the fundamental mysteries of life are irreplaceable. His mother told him that there are truths that kill, that hurt, and that in the end they are totally unnecessary to build true happiness. Frederick was always quite foolish, he never understood his mother's words, he just wanted to know a little more about the world where he lived in order to apply his art more accurately to his own reality.
He began to think for a moment whether or not it was necessary to know why he had been injected. Or to understand especially what was that red and mysterious substance that possibly cured him from one day to the next. He realized that he could live without that information and go on with his life as normal. But the easy way was not always Frederick's favorite option, in that case, the choice of the path of a researcher who explores a cave blindly, was going to change his destiny forever, it was a crossing line for which there was no turning back. Frederick hurried the pace even more, arriving in just a few minutes at his substitute home.
When he entered the house he realized that it was completely empty, the whole family had gone out to buy fertilizers, it was a common practice of all of them, so Frederick had the perfect opportunity to look for the answers he needed so much. For a moment he hesitated to check the family's belongings, his greatest fear was that they would arrive precisely at that moment and discover him checking the whole house, evidently it was a suspicious behaviour, worthy of a thief of valuables, so it would cost him his stay there, and he would have to start looking again for a place to live. On the other hand, if he managed to do the search quickly and meticulously, no one would ever know where he put his hands.
Frederick rushed up the stairs and into the head of the family's room. The first thing he checked was the bedside tables, he opened each of the drawers and looked at the objects they contained in detail. There was nothing unusual, nothing out of the ordinary, they were just everyday objects, a photo album, and some candles. Then he went to the closet, where he had to check the pockets of the clothes. Luckily, Frederick remembered almost all of the clothes the head of the family wore when he went to take care of him in the hospital. In a bit of a hurry, he looked for the coat he was carrying that cold night, and checked every single pocket. The only thing she found was a small plastic cup where she had drunk coffee. In front of the bed was a big old chest, which had quite subtle decorations, looked quite thin, but at the same time a little worn and full of dust, that was the perfect place to keep valuables. Frederick went over to it and tried to open it. He could tell that it was quite heavy, there were many things that sounded in there, but everything was protected by a big lock.
