El alto consumo de bebidas gaseosas y azucaradas puede desarrollar patologías como obesidad, diabetes, problemas dentales y riesgos de osteoporosis.

Una lata de gaseosa equivale a 12 cucharadas de azúcar, una caja de jugo contiene entre 12 y 18 gramos de azúcar, lo que equivale a tres o cuatro sobres de azúcar, una lata de 235 ml contiene 40 mg de cafeína, el consumo diario de azúcar no debe pasar del 7 o el 10 %, lo que representa una o máximo dos cucharadas de azúcar.

Los refrescos contienen niveles altos de ácido fosfórico que se han asociado con cálculos renales y otros problemas de los riñones.

El azúcar y ácido de las bebidas gaseosas disuelven fácilmente el esmalte de los dientes, cuando las caries llegan al nervio, la raíz y el área en la base del diente, el diente puede morir, y si no se trata a tiempo, se puede formar un absceso.

Las latas de refrescos tienen una cubierta de resina que contiene (Bisfenil-A), el mismo químico utilizado en botellas para bebé de plástico, botellas de agua y contenedores de plástico que arruinan el sistema endocrinológico, potencialmente causan pubertad prematura y anormalidades reproductivas y cáncer.
