All very true - especially to actively practice/express gratitude. How can you feel down when you're pondering all the wonderful things in live you have to be thankful for, despite your whatever other problems you're currently facing.
Meditation once a day is good too, and I ain't no new age hippy dude. In fact I can't even claim that I do meditate, yet I know it apparently incredibly good for your health and happiness to simply take 15-20 minutes a day to meditate.
