#2 UNREAL ENGINE SERIES

in cgi •  6 years ago  (edited)

Hello

This is second part of of this series. So far we got first basic part of the whole model imported to UNREAL...
Next thing which we need to do is to make good Lightmass solution... Because right now it doesnt looks good at all... Whole scene looks totally unnatural...
So we going to Build light menu, then we choose Preview and we hit Build...
Result gives us some kind of notion and general feeling how light behaves in our interior...
After couple of minutes we got something like this:

Of course quality of the solution is really bad right now because we want to have really fast feedback. Better quality take more time to spent on computation. Right now it is sufficient.
We also used only skylight becuase this natural is like a base. Something that we going to build whole lighting upon it.

Time to add some artificial lighting to balance out the whole setup. To do this we will bright some spotlights which are assembled in the ceiling...

then we hit again Build Light-mass button and lets wait for results...

After couple of tunning and keeping balance between cold and warm light I think we got some kind of compromise.
Now we can start to drop some other parts of the model to Unreal, like kitchen and living room props...
We going to export them as a whole package not as a separate models. Datasmith importing plugin will make them recognisable for Unreal as a single models. Without it we would be forced to import one by one which is really slow and tedious.

to be continued...

PS. Waiting for your suggestions about what this series lacks... What I should put more focus on...

Thanks,
@wilku
