Just FYI - I went ahead and added a games forum :)

Let me know if you find any additional tags that merit adding.

I'm just getting better enough to spend time online again, this is a great thing to come back to. Thanks man.

I love steemboard. It adds achievements to a system that already pays money!

I haven't done much research on which tags are used for gaming, have any insight into that or are you just wanting a section to talk about games? :)

There's the general gaming tag. I suspect gamereview, roleplay, chess, go, shogi will all become popular quickly on a forum board. Game review might already have some traction. Go, chess, and shogi all have a notation format that allows them to be played through text quite easily.

The format of steemit makes playing such games cumbersome, a forum layout would facilitate things a lot. With the large (and growing) Korean community in sure Go will take off (though I'm not sure of what the Korean tag would be)

I haven't acted on adding them yet because I feel "gaming" and "games" as a whole needs some studying, or at least some smaller scale experiments. The tags right now are cluttered up and not incredibly focused, which makes using generic tags turn into a very unfocused and busy forum.

As a gamer myself - this is something I want to see.

A few thoughts:

  • If it's a forum where users can actually play a game (turned base, chess/go/etc), maybe picking one game to begin with and try to build a community around that would be a good start. It feels like each game should really be it's own forum in the end as well, but I'm not sure if that's how to start it.
  • If it's a general "games" forum, should it be broken into multiple forums by game type? Digital, Role Playing, Board Games, etc.
  • Do we have any large enough game communities for game-specific forums?

All things I'm thinking about. It feels like gaming might be able to be it's own section of the forums (with multiple boards) or even it's own website.

If we don't already have the community here, it won't be long before we do.
@whatageek is doing pretty good at bringing all the gamers together, though I don't think there's any standard tag discipline yet.
