Day 167 Active Day

in challenge •  6 years ago

I started a challenge of taking 100 days off to mainly focus on my health and overall personal development and used this account as a personal blog. I enjoyed it to the extend where I turned it into a year long challenge were I try to find a good balance between health, work and my personal life...

Wanting to test out actifit yesterday gave me some really nice motivation to make it into an active day. I started out with a moring run but I saw afterwards that the app had not tracked my steps properly because it ran on the background. After the HIIT run a couple days back, I did feel some pain in my hip again, so for now I will just keep it at regular runs. My plan was to use actifit inside my regular posts to give me some motivation and help me reach my 500SP goal for this account. I will be looking into it more the next couple days, but I'm affraid it will be too much of a hassle to actually make it work. I went on a 5-10 km walk in the afternoon also just to get some more steps in.

September Core Work Out.
I'm making september a month where I will work out my core joinin the Planking Challenge from Katie (See Announcemen Post). Week 1 Day 1 was all about the Basic Plank (See Post) and testing out how long the position can be maintained. I did quite some planking when I started my 100 day challenge usually just holding it for 100 second. I once tried to see how long I could last and it was around 150 seconds. Not having done a lot of planking lately I expected it to be below it now. To my surprise I was able to hold 180 sec. My more healthy lifestyle and regular activity is really starting to show. Then again, I just looked up the world record planking and it is over 8 hours...

8 hours is just nuts. ;) I had a client who grumbled his way through an 8-minute max plank test once, but 3 minutes is still very respectable! Thanks for sharing the contest and have fun with the next few days. Off to post today's variation now...

What strikes me most is how a belief system can make such a huge difference. When just starting 100 seconds seems impossible, while reading how the world record is 8 hours. Doing 'only' 10 minutes all of a sudden seems 'easily achievable' :)
I'm looking forward to testing out the 3th day variation.

I really think the mental side of things is what usually quits before the body actually can't do anymore. I know for sure that is what has held me back sometimes in my running. Knowing you can do it is the first part, then training your mind that it can get past the discomfort is another. ;)

Great post!
Thanks for tasting the eden!
