Eight years ago today I went out on a date with a girl.
That’s a pretty unusual occurrence for me which is probably why I remember it.
And I do remember it like it was yesterday.
I picked her up from her hostel (she was studying at university) and we picked up some fish and chips and drove down to the beach.
You can tell I’m a ‘no expense spared’ kind of guy huh?
We sat in my car and ate fish and chips and chatted about all sorts of things, as you do.
One of the more interesting parts of the conversation was laying the ground rules if we were to move in together. On our first date, we actually discussed moving in together!
That may sound a little precipitous, but it was also quite prophetic.
Nine weeks later we moved in together.
We have been together for the last eight years and still going strong.
We got married in 2012, so our wedding anniversary this year will be five years.
Not bad for a little old man.
