Singing is an attribute that is really coveted by so many people. While some people naturally sing wonderfully, others struggle with singing. Some people shy away from singing, claiming that they have bad voices. No matter how bad you are at something, there is always a way out or practices that can make you better at it. I hereby present best practises that will make you a better singer. Note that these are not necessarily meant to make you a pro at singing, but at least, you will be a comfortable singer when you adopt these practises.
Do Vocal Exercises
This is one of the major factors of building a great singing voice. Just like it is with working out in a gym, there are also various vocal exercises to help build voice quality in different capacities. Vocal exercises help you to increase your singing power, extend your vocal range, develop a smooth voice, achieve voice accuracy and flexibility, develop your vibrato, and so on. You could employ the services of a voice trainer or you could seek help online, depending on your need.
Frequent Hydration of the Vocal Cords
The most helpful consumable thing that improves vocal health is water. Though other liquids like honey, tea, vinegar, and salt water also help, water is the most natural and helps in washing and lubricating the vocal cords.
Proper Nutrition
This probably is the most difficult part of the practises for many people. Choosing carefully what you eat or drink has a significant effect on how you sound. Too much consumption of dairy products is detrimental to sounding good as milk coagulates in the vocal area, creating phlegm that sticks for so long. Carbonated drinks are also capable of affecting the voice if the sugar is left in the throat. This creates stomach acids that burn the vocal cords when you belch.
Other practices that help improve singing are body exercises and listening to good singers. Exercises like jogging helps singing by increasing cardiovascular strength and breathing. Swimming, jogging and strolling are ways that help to get aerobic exercise. Listening to good singers helps you to create a standard or goal for yourself. You will be able to take challenges from the person’s skills and expertise, improving as you listen more.
